San Xavier del Bac

A friend in my church is a writer and was telling me that he wished there was someone who was pushing him to write. He works a full-time job to provide for his family, and his writing often takes a back seat to the busyness of being a husband and father. So, I suggested that we try working on a topic once a month - he writes about it, I do something artistic on it.

For January's topic, I did a random search on Wikipedia and found San Xavier del Bac - an old Mission in Arizona. I picked it because of its intriguing nickname - "White Dove of the Desert"

I also wanted to stretch myself creatively, so I chose to try a new medium - graphic pen and watercolors.
Here's the result. Hope you like it.

My friend and I worked independently of each other, only showing each other our work at the end of the month. He wrote a short story he was inspired to write after reading some of the history behind it. Here's his story. Enjoy.
